Art Journal Page

Hi Everyone, well I am trying new things these days, and have found a love for all things mixed media, and art in general, so you will be seeing some different things from me in the future, along with cards that I will always love to do. For this project it I have used a beautiful image by Heather Valentin from Lacy Sunshine called Heidi Dazzlebud, from the Briar Whimsie Collection. I have used copics to color her.
Here is the image of Heidi
These are the colors used to color her

I decided I wanted to do her in a scene, in my head it is a clearing in the woods, and surrounded by the sites and sounds of nature.
here is the scene, which I created using her, along with stamp by Penny black, water color crayons for making the background, the die cut branch of birds and butterflies by Joy crafts, and on the butterflies some gemstones and Iced Pastel Sunshine Sparkles in Minty Iced Green and Frosted Cotton Candy, sounds yummy huh, and they are so sparkley and wonderful. I also added a quote from Rachel Carson, which is : Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the Earth  are never alone or weary of life.
So here is the scene I created
Then of course there had to be a background for the page, well that was when I decide to use
the Sunshine Sprays from Lacy Sunshine as well. Beautiful sprays in an array of colors and some are glimmer and some are plain, but all beautiful, so for this I used
Pink Cherry Fizz, Peacock Teal, Buttercup, Spring Dew Green Shimmer, and Peach Sorbet Shimmer. I wish I could get a picture with the shimmer on it, because it really does look so pretty, but I guess you will just have to take my word on it.
Here is the finished page, which I will say I am very happy with for being my first page.

Thanks for looking,
until next time

Cutie Pie

This week at Come and Get It Challenges we have a new challenge for Cute Cards, what a simple and fun theme, come join us won't you. Anyway for my card I have used an image from Crafty Sentiment Designs called Little Friends. I have used copics to color it in, and made it into a simple center step card, adding butterflies to the sides, and a flower with a sweet sentiment to the bottom
Thanks for looking, and have a wonderful day.

Mixed Media Collage

Here is a small mixed media collage I have done.

It started off as a canvas board from the dollar store, I had done a background with moulding paste, but didn't like it, so took the canvas off, and decided to use the board, as it had some texture to it. It is 6 in. By 8 in

Next step was to cover it in Black gesso, I then cut some old pieces of patterned paper and pu them on. I stenciled a background over that, then added another layer of black gesso, let it all dry.

Then I started looking for pieces for the collage. There are a number of elements:
Felt flowers, buttons, metal gear, metal flourish, metal grommet, metal bottle cap, paper flower, with corduroy brad, then a wooden guitar, cat, bird, flower, star, and heart rounded it all out. The butterfly is a die cut cut out of wood paper

I the. Glued them all on with gel medium and let dry over night, then I painted it all black once again.

After that was dry, I used a dry brush technique and painted some of it white, with cheap acrylic paint.
Before spraying with the inks I attached the butterfly, as I had left it off in order to get the black on the underneath, as well as on the pieces that would be under the butterfly
Then to finish it off I sprayed it with spray inks I made using re inkers and alcohol to the whole thing,
Colors of these were Marina Mist, Melon Mambo, and Garden Green. Oh also a bit of the gold glitz shimmer spray I had from Stampin up as well.

This is the before picture when I was laying it ou

Summer time

Hi Everyone, This is a project done for the Wings in the Summertime over at Lacy Sunshine, all month long. I have altered a pencil tin. The tin was painted with spray paint in silver to start with, then the inside was painted with White Gesso, I then let it dry, and then sprayed it with Dylusions Sky Blue spray ink. I have added a number of die cuts, the tree from Memory Box, The fence was cut on my friends Cricut, using Springtime Cottage cartridge, The grass is a punch by EK Success, The mushrooms are from a stamp set from Stampin Up, sorry don't remember the name, I colored them then cut them out, and popped them up. The clouds were another die, not sure who has made it. and then sponged with pan pastels light grey. Bubbles Sunshiny Day was colored with copics, then cut out and popped up onto the scene. The colors are below that I used to color her. She is so cute and one of my favorite characters over at Lacy Sunshine.
